I have been playing with my various Meow Cosmetic samples and have found my shade Pampered Puss in Frisky Korat. It has a light-medium coverage. I don’t look like I have foundation on, but I don’t look like death either, so I approve. Also, it is buildable, which is always good!
For those not familiar with the way Meow sort their foundations. Firstly there are 3 formulas dependent on what coverage you are after (light, medium or heavy). Secondly, there are 86 shades divided into 13 breeds (basic skin undertone colours, pink/peach/beige/neutral/warm etc) and then each of the breeds has shades from Lightest, almost white to Very Dark. There is a chart of the list here with pictures of all the powders (just scroll down). Also being powders you can combine shades to get your perfect match. The best thing about this apart from being able to find a good match is that if you take a photograph, preferably outside in sunlight, with no make up on (I know outside with no make up is bad, I’m sure I scared the neighbours!) and post on the forums for Meow a happy helper will respond with suggestions of colours to try, so you don’t get completely lost staring at the massive list! I was completely off with my first guesses!
More Meow Cosmetics after the jump and pictures…Cue horrendous scream…I never look happy in pictures :/ I am friendly I swear!
ARGH!
I would normally photoshop my skin in photos , but these haven’t been touched which is quite awesome. I really can’t feel the foundation, except that my skin feel silky from the powder.
Wearing:
- Meow Primp and Preen Premiere Puss Primer for Combination Skin, I really like this, evens out nicely and leaves a good base.
- Meow Pampered Puss in Sleek Korat, a slightly too light shade I have been using a sample of Frisky Korat, but I’ve run out :( The difference between the two is very slight, but I prefer the Frisky one.
- Undereye concealer in Sleek Mau, too light a colour for me, but nice coverage, my dark circles look far worse normally! :s
- Meow Taboo Blusher in Nudity, a nice rosy glow (see below)
- Meow Sunsplasher! in Light Korat dusted over forehead, nose and top of cheeks
- Benefit Bad Gal mascara
- Benefit waterproof eyeliner
- Benefit big beautiful eye contour kit
There was a memorial weekend 20% off code so I ordered myself a full sized jar of foundation (Pampered Puss in Frisky Korat) and also a blusher I really liked, Taboo blusher in Nudity, it’s a pretty pinky/rose colour (see below). Just the international postage wait now!
I also ordered a jar of the primer for combination skin. I have an oily t-zone and this primer, plus the foundation really kept my skin matte and it didn’t aggravate my skin, I’m very happy to find a foundation that likes me!
I picked up some more samples of concealer, I really liked the undereye concealer sample I ordered, but the colour was slightly too ghostly, but it definately did its job! I’ve never used a concealer that I liked and I have horrible blueish undereye circles, so I’m hoping that if I get the right colour it will be an improvement. Most concealers either slide off or don’t seem to cover any of my blueness.
I had some samples of the Meow finishing powder too, it felt nice and maybe helped with my oil-slick skin too, but it was very white, and seemed to make my nice foundation I’d just put on go a little whiter. I have my Rimmel Stay Matte 001 which is just as good, so I’m happy.
Lastly I ordered samples of Sunsplasher! which are basically a cowards bronzer! You order them based on your skin tone and just “splash” them where the sun would catch you. With the sun coming out, it might prove handy. It applies nicely, you almost can’t tell I have it on, but it does look nice to add a slight bit of colour.
So there you go, I approve of my Meow Cosmetics spending, if you have oily skin I can recommend mineral foundations and they are quite good for the summer too as they are nice and light! I have plenty of samples of other skin tones I didn’t use from my mass sample order so if anyone would like to try them feel free to send me an email. :)
