Barry M Lip Paint Pinkie Gold Sparkle

I’ve wanted this lipstick for ages! It is never in any Boots stores when I’ve looked and I never wanted to make a Barry M online order for fear of spending all my money! However, with a lot of restraint I finally made a small order and included this lovely lipstick. I was worried about the formula of this lipstick and buying before swatching it because some Barry M lipsticks can be a little drying, but I need not of worried because this lipstick is very nice and not at all drying.

The colour is, like it’s name, a pinkie sheer lipstick with a gold sparkle sheen to it. It’s sheer enough to apply without a mirror and although it’s lasting time isn’t great, it’s very easy to apply it doesn’t take long to top it up. The lipstick in the tube is really pretty too, it’s a nice dusky pink with a almost marbled gold shimmer running through it.

Finally here is a swatch on my lips. As you can see it’s not very pigmented, but leaves a nice pinkie gold sparkle finish. The lipstick is quite moisturising and this is my go-to lipstick for a neutral day with a bit of sparkle.

I’m in Marseille right now and I have a few scheduled posts for this week while I’m away. I’m probably still on Twitter though, I’ve sorted out my phone with an internet booster so I will have internet while I’m away. I’ve definitely packed this lipstick to take away with me. However, I am concerned about melting lipstick and myself melting in the heat. I’m a total heat wuss! Hopefully myself and my lipsticks will make it back in a non-melted state :P Speak soon! xxxx

Mac Fresh Salmon Lipstick

First things first…I love this lipstick! I recently bought it from Lady of the Lane in a blog sale. Whenever I see a blog sale I always have a quick look at swatches to see if any take my fancy. I’m always one for a bargain! I think this lipstick was limited edition in the spring 2010 Colour Forecast Collection.

When I first saw the name my initially reaction was YUCK! Fresh Salmon is not the greatest name to pick for a lipstick. I like to eat salmon, but I don’t want to smear it on my lips… Although it looks like orange in the tube, it seemed to come out as a sheer peachy colour with a gold shimmer on the lips. When it arrived it does look a little scary and orange. You can see the gold shimmer in it in the tube a little, but the shimmer really comes out better on the lips.

Below is a swatch on my arm and as you can see it is pretty shiny from the gold shimmer, more so than it looks in the tube.

Finally here are my lips with nothing on and below with Fresh Salmon. I really love it, I have to say it is probably my favourite lipstick at the moment. It isn’t as ‘done up’ looking as a red, but is more interesting than a neutral. I find the colour really suits me and makes me looks quite alive, which I hardly ever do! Hello dark zombie eye circles! I’m concerned about my love for this lipstick though, it was limited edition and I won’t be able to get another! What will I do when I run out!?

I’ve been lost in old music this week. I’ve had a massive tidy out of my house for my landlord visiting last night, not that he turned up or let us know anything *grumble*, but at least the house looks nice and I found all my old cds! I’m slowly going through the long process of ripping them to my pc, but a lot of it is already on Spotify so I can listen to it now :) Emma and Ayden have both mentioned old school music this week and made me remember all the cool bands I hadn’t listened to in ages.

Speaking of old music, I used to love Easyworld and it was one of my favourite bands when I met my OH. They broke up ages ago, but while searching for old school band info I found that apparently David Ford (the singer) kept recording. He has an awesome voice and even more awesome is that he is playing Southampton at the end of the month! I’m a happy bunny! xxx

Mac Soiree

Here is Mac Soiree. I really wanted this polish as soon as I heard about it. I don’t normally get along with gold nail polish. It looks a bit ghastly next to my skin colour, but I’ve been looking for a rose gold polish since I got engaged because my ring is rose gold. Plus, I see people wearing gold polish and I’m very jealous I can’t pull it off without banana hands!

I bought this along with a few other things from the Cham-Pale collection. However, due to the lousy weather and too many late nights I’ve been missing the sunlight. I finally got to snap a few shots last week after putting Soiree on.

I also put this on again yesterday and snapped a few pictures on my now longer nails seeing as there was a small amount of sunshine yesterday! :) I didn’t use my usually Essie Good To Go topcoat, so my nails don’t look as shiny, but my Essie topcoat has become a major shrinkage monster! If I paint it over the nail tip so that it won’t shrink away, it shrinks up from the bottom and looks a mess. How annoying! I’ve just got about half way through the bottle. It has lasted ages and I loved it until recently. I may re-buy, but I’m not sure why it suddenly decided to be strange and shrink-tastic. :(

Anyway, moving away from my topcoat pouting. Soiree is a lovely polish and it dries really quickly, like most foil finishes do. This is two coats, you definitely need a couple of coats to even this colour out. I love the colour and it is really shiny metal finish. As you can see in the pictures, there wasn’t a lot of light either of the days I photographed this, but the polish still reflects the light. One bad point about this polish, it’s a pain to photograph! :P

Also, a quick blog layout question. At the moment I have it so I have a small picture in my posts that you can click to make larger. Do you like it like that or would it be preferable to just have a larger picture in the blog post like I’ve done in this one? I realised it is extra hassle to click on a picture in order to see it properly, but I wondered what you lovely people thought? :)

Don’t forget to enter my giveaway and thanks to those who have entered already! xxxx

Models Own 25 Caret Gold

I’m off to Bournemouth tomorrow for the day. I miss living there, so it is always nice to go back, even if it is only for the day. :) It’s meant to be quite nice weather too, I’m really looking forward to it! (and I’m sure most UK people will have seen the lovely news highlights from Southampton students this week! :/ Lovely place.)

Anyways…here is another un-tried, it’s a pretty knarly colour! I mostly bought this and a silver for nail art purposes. However, I’ve not attempted anything yet. I can guarantee this polish will be kept for nail art purposes only, it’s quite hideous and looks awful as a full manicure on me. Although, it did match the trim and buttons on the military jacket I wore out today, I’m not sure if that was a good or a bad thing though!

I don’t mind gold nail varnish, but this one is so yellow and garish! I really like the Champagne gold colour, it’s a bit more pale/subtle.

Here it is anyway…I could have done another coat, but I was planning to take it straight off. I ended up leaving it a day, to see if the colour looked better outside in daylight. It didn’t! I think on darker skin tones this would look fab though. :)

NOTD Models Own Champagne and haul

Finally, here is my Models Own haul and it arrive in a cute little box! I ordered these five while the football offer was on. I just plucked any at random, but I knew I wanted a white and a green, the rest were just me going ‘ooooh shiny’! I tested each colour on my poor fiance (tee hee), as I didn’t know which to try first! They are all lovely, but I had to try Champagne first as it looked so shiny on his nail!

Snow White, Utopia, Champagne, Green Grass and Tickled Pink

Here it is! It’s lovely and shiny. I expected it to be quite sheer, but it’s not at all. This is a one coat polish! I did the one coat and it dried quite quickly and looked good, but I normally like to add a second because I always do, plus I had a few bits I wanted to tidy up. Their must have been about two hours before I put the second coat on, within 10 mins I had mega bubbles! They were on every nail, not jut one or two bubbles, but all over! I hadn’t been heavy handed nor rushed. Quite annoying, but as it was fine with one coat I just took it off and put just the one coat on. Perfect!

I’m paranoid about bubbles at the moment, if I rush I always get them, especially with Model’s Own polish. The lesson I learnt here was if it looks good, don’t mess with it!

While I was re-painting this time I had a little companion! My kitty it quite anti social, and really social at the same time. While in his social moods he follows me rubbing around my legs until he ‘leads’ me to an old dressing gown I keep for him so he can get stroked there…he’s very weird, if he wants strokes it has to be by this tatty thing. In this case I wanted to redo my nails and he was busy tripping me up, so I picked him up and plonked him on the bed out the way. I thought he’d run away as he never goes on the bed, but nope, he flopped and was happy to stared at me and try to stuff my polish a lot! He looks like such a cutie, though I swear he always looks like he’s thinking ‘put the camera away or I’ll kill you’ in photos! He’s in a major grump at the moment because of the heat and has developed a hatred for the fan, you can’t have it both ways crazy kitty!
