Haus of Gloi Litchi Milk Tea Sugar Exfoliant

I love this sugary goo! I received a sample of this in my prizes from the Lipglossiping giveaway in January. I got lots of goodies, but this is the best smelling thing I have ever come across! I only have a tiny bit left and I’m not using it up because every time I go past the bathroom I have to go and smell it! Creepy? Yes. But I don’t care!

Haus of Gloi are a company in the US who make lovely vegan soap/scrubs/lotions/perfume oils in original and unique scents.

This one is described as “Tart lychee fruit and black tea met with a splash of coconut milk.” I am not sure what lychee smells like, but I’ve noticed recently that The Body Shop have a lychee blossom range. I’ll have to go and have a sniff and see if that is what the gorgeous smell is. It does smell quite fruity, but not a sharp citrus scent, just a nice smell. I have no idea how to describe it.  My first thought when I smelt it was that it kinda smells like those shops that are full of candles and incense. It’s nice, but I can’t tell you what it is.

The product itself is a sugar exfoliant that contains sugar, shea butter and lots of lovely oils. You rub it into damp skin and it buffs away dead skin and emulsifies. When you wash it off you are left with really soft skin. The oils really moisturise my skin and leave a slight film. It doesn’t feel horrible though, it just feels like you have already moisturised. My skin has never felt this soft, especially on my arms. Also, the lovely smell of the product clings to your skin and you can smell it all day.

After 3 days I ordered myself a large pot of this and they also offer sample sized pots so I picked up a couple of them as well. I can’t wait till the pumpkin lotion comes back in stock next month, I really want to try that too.

Have you tried any Haus of Gloi products before? Can you recommend any of the scents they have? Some sounds lovely, but I’m a bit scared to try them! Also, how do you describe smells?! My description above is rubbish, I know. All you really know from my description is that I really like it :P

Also it was my kitty’s birthday this week! He’s now 2! I can’t believe it. It feels weird we got him when he was only 8 weeks old and he was a little monster, now he’s 2 years old and he’s a big monster! If you want to see some kitty pictures then check under the break. If not  don’t click that link, it’s kitten-tastic!

Eyeko Petite Polish

I apologise for my lack of posts this last week or so. I also apologise to everyone and to myself for not having chance to read any blogs this week! I was really annoyed when I saw I had about 700+ unread posts and I knew I’d never have chance to catch up and marked them as read. It’s the first time in nearly a year I’ve had to do that. Stupid uni work! I am going to take time off this afternoon and do some blog reading in between the two essays I’m writing and the analysis of my data from my experiment. At least it looks like the experiment has worked, with a few bumps, but at least I’ll have something to talk about in the discussion I guess!

My to do list is quite insane at the moment, but I was very pleased to have completed one assignment at least. I had to give a presentation this week and I was really worried about it. My public speaking is a little rusty and I often look like a scared beetroot. It went ok I think, although I did forget my notes, my laser pointer and my engagement ring, which I took as a bad omen. The worst thing about it was the stress before giving it, when I was up there it wasn’t so bad because there wasn’t a lot I could do about it apart from just to give the presentation and get on with it. I have a 3 more presentations to give this month, so I’m sure I’ll be good at them by the time I’ve finished! Or a nervous wreck…

To make up for my lack of posting/commenting/reading here is a picture of my naughty kitty!

I always wondered what he was doing when I heard him monstering around the house at night and I also wondered where all my hairbands go! I thought I just lost them or misplaced them, but now I know….My cat steals them, plays with them and hides them! My OH caught him a couple of times, as soon as we turn off the lights to go to bed, he jumps straight up in front of my keyboard and looks for things to play with. It normally hairbands or sweetie wrappers. We find them dotted around the house the next day, after being woken up several times during the night because he is chasing whatever he has found down the stairs! Such a little monster! :p

Anyhoo, quick NOTD post today and I’m sorting out a Shiro Cosmetics post for tomorrow because my order arrived last week! I ordered some of the new lip products and they are fantastic! I’ll try get it sorted out for tomorrow :)

For now this is the polish I’ve been wearing all week. I ordered from Eyeko awhile ago and Eyeko Petite polish came as the free gift. I never tried it out at the time because it’s quite boring/ordinary and sheer. But this week, when I didn’t really have time to paint my nails and I didn’t want to leave them bare and slightly stained(!) I thought I’d give this polish a try. I’d been wearing brights and my holos for awhile, so I thought maybe a neutral would be a nice change.

The polish is really sheer and I believe it is made to be used as a French manicure base. I’d say it is perfect for that. This is three coats and as you can see, it just makes your nails look a pinky colour leaving a visible nail line. It makes my nails look quite clean and fresh, but also like I’m not wearing a polish. Whenever I want to have natural nails without my icky stains being visible this is definitely the polish I’ll reach for. To me this polish isn’t really a polish as I would define one. I like my polish to be obvious, but that isn’t to say that I don’t like this polish, it is perfect for when I want to look like I’m not wearing polish. If that makes any sense!? I feel like a driveling wreck today! So onto the pictures!

I chopped my nails a bit this week, I don’t like it. I preferred them the length they were in this picture. I need to learn how to keep my nails the same length, I guess by filing them? I always grow them, chop them off and hate them for a few weeks until they grow. I don’t really like filing them, it seems to take ages! Maybe I need to invest in a good quality nail file? What do you lovely people do with your nails? :)

Have a fantastic weekend and I hope to catch up on all your lovely blogs soon! xxx

Models Own Cherry Pie

Another from the un-tried list. I was really looking forward to this polish, but it just didn’t look as nice as on the website. It seemed a lot more deep, foil red on the website, but it’s just a shiny brown, bleurgh colour, and it wasn’t a foil as I had expected. Hence why I’ve been avoiding it. I guess it’s not too awful, but I just didn’t like it. It doesn’t look too bad in the sunshine, it brings out the red glitter.

And here it without the sunshine. It’s just brown…It’s ok, just not very interesting. With the name Cherry Pie, I was expecting something more…cherry…not burnt pie…that was an awful joke, sorry! I shall rename this polish Burnt Cherry Pie!

And so this isn’t just a boring ‘I-did-not-like-this’ post, here is a cute kitty! He doesn’t normally get on the bed, but it was quite sunny today and I think he wanted to lie in the sun. His eyes are not very dilated, so they look really green in the sunlight, soo cute! :)

NOTD Models Own Champagne and haul

Finally, here is my Models Own haul and it arrive in a cute little box! I ordered these five while the football offer was on. I just plucked any at random, but I knew I wanted a white and a green, the rest were just me going ‘ooooh shiny’! I tested each colour on my poor fiance (tee hee), as I didn’t know which to try first! They are all lovely, but I had to try Champagne first as it looked so shiny on his nail!

Snow White, Utopia, Champagne, Green Grass and Tickled Pink

Here it is! It’s lovely and shiny. I expected it to be quite sheer, but it’s not at all. This is a one coat polish! I did the one coat and it dried quite quickly and looked good, but I normally like to add a second because I always do, plus I had a few bits I wanted to tidy up. Their must have been about two hours before I put the second coat on, within 10 mins I had mega bubbles! They were on every nail, not jut one or two bubbles, but all over! I hadn’t been heavy handed nor rushed. Quite annoying, but as it was fine with one coat I just took it off and put just the one coat on. Perfect!

I’m paranoid about bubbles at the moment, if I rush I always get them, especially with Model’s Own polish. The lesson I learnt here was if it looks good, don’t mess with it!

While I was re-painting this time I had a little companion! My kitty it quite anti social, and really social at the same time. While in his social moods he follows me rubbing around my legs until he ‘leads’ me to an old dressing gown I keep for him so he can get stroked there…he’s very weird, if he wants strokes it has to be by this tatty thing. In this case I wanted to redo my nails and he was busy tripping me up, so I picked him up and plonked him on the bed out the way. I thought he’d run away as he never goes on the bed, but nope, he flopped and was happy to stared at me and try to stuff my polish a lot! He looks like such a cutie, though I swear he always looks like he’s thinking ‘put the camera away or I’ll kill you’ in photos! He’s in a major grump at the moment because of the heat and has developed a hatred for the fan, you can’t have it both ways crazy kitty!

A cat tale (lol, pun) and a rescue NOTD

Last day of freedom from working! Its been fun, but I am quite bored so I think I’ll be happy to start doing something again. After exams I always find it hard to remember what I did before them. All I seem to remember how to do at the moment is paint nails, watch junk and sleep. Can exams give you brain damage? :s

Ziggy did not like the vets yesterday, took my 15 minutes to get him into his carrier. He goes all splayed legged and meows is a sad way to guilt me. :( Eventually I got him in, got a taxi to the vets where he spent the whole journey with paws through the bars making me sad, then he wouldn’t come out of his carrier for the nice vet! He was only there for his yearly jab and a claw clipping, but he likes to make it difficult! Eventually we got him out and the vet tried to weigh him, every time he was put on the scale and let go, wooosh! he was away! Good news is he is fine apart from being a scaredy cat, and a bit fat! I was covered in hair from wrestling him when he was getting his claws cut! I never learn not to wear black with a black and white cat! Still he is cute and he was happy to be home! (yes, that is a table by the window,  I used to have flowers on that table, until nosey cat wanted to live there! Window view and next to the radiator, spoilt cat!)

This is GOSH Rainbow applied a little heavy handed over GOSH black with Barry M Vivid Purple tips. Not that you can see any of that! The GOSH and Barry M seemed to be very thick and every time I bashed my nails I had little dents! A coat of rainbow covers any disaster nails. :) Think I’ll take this off though, I should reply test the thickness of polishes I haven’t used before. They look fine, but feel really weird. Groan…removing rainbow, I may be awhile, think I’ll put a film on!
