Orly Space Cadet
In honour of the return of Stargate Universe, here is Orly Space Cadet! I loved the first season of SGU, it was so suspenseful and stressful to watch, I had to save up several episodes on the Sky plus so I didn’t have the stress of cliff hangers every week! I’ve caught up with the first two episodes of season 2, and it is just as awesome as I remembered. Though I was left quite depressed after ep.2, as with a lot of sci-fi, they tend not to be too concerned about killing off characters. :( It’s still great though, I can’t wait till Tuesday!
Anyway, moving away from sci-fi. Space Cadet was my ending job/back to uni treat. I love it! The first coat looks utterly rubbish. I was ready for a huge disappointment after I applied first coat, it was like watery green mud…which isn’t very nice. However after another coat it looked great! I love the duo-chrome of the contrasting green/purple colours. The base is the dirty swamp water green colour and the duo-chrome glass flecks are purple/green-y gold.
It took several pictures to try and show the different duochrome colours.
Another plus about these glass flecked Orly polishes is that they last for ages with no tip wear or chipping. The only bad point is they are similar to a glitter to remove. It’s not too bad really, especially seeing how nice it looks.
After snapping many pictures at different angles I just took a video. I know it’s not very good quality, but at least you can see the colour change.
I Love Halley’s Comet…Orly? Ya rly!
I ordered this as a present to myself for finishing a particularly horrible piece of work. I wouldn’t normally spend more than £5 on a polish. The Orly Cosmic Fx polishes have been on a lot of blogs lately, they do look great in the bottle, but I was never swayed by any pictures of it on the nail. I really liked Halley’s Comet though. It hasn’t had a lot of blog love because it is a dupe of a couple of other polishes, e.g. OPI and Zoya
Seeing as I have neither I was happy to get the Orly one! I really love this colour, the polish, the bottle, everything really! I love turquoise shades and I love sparkles, so I’m very pleased. :)
There were two things I found irritating about this polish,
1- how difficult it is to photograph! It looks really nice irl. It is smooth and very shiny, and has a nice blue/green shimmer dependent on the light.
2 – It was horrible to remove. It is definitely a sparkly-flakies type polish and it was highly pigmented. This lead to not only a battle similar to a glitter to remove and it tinted my fingers very blue! It’s worth it though! :) I really like this Orly polish and will consider getting more if I want to treat myself again. This is two coats which dried really quickly and smoothly.
On a stranger note…I’m not sure how anyone else pronounces it, but from my many geeky times online I only associated O RLY with…
NO WAI!
