Orly Space Cadet
In honour of the return of Stargate Universe, here is Orly Space Cadet! I loved the first season of SGU, it was so suspenseful and stressful to watch, I had to save up several episodes on the Sky plus so I didn’t have the stress of cliff hangers every week! I’ve caught up with the first two episodes of season 2, and it is just as awesome as I remembered. Though I was left quite depressed after ep.2, as with a lot of sci-fi, they tend not to be too concerned about killing off characters. :( It’s still great though, I can’t wait till Tuesday!
Anyway, moving away from sci-fi. Space Cadet was my ending job/back to uni treat. I love it! The first coat looks utterly rubbish. I was ready for a huge disappointment after I applied first coat, it was like watery green mud…which isn’t very nice. However after another coat it looked great! I love the duo-chrome of the contrasting green/purple colours. The base is the dirty swamp water green colour and the duo-chrome glass flecks are purple/green-y gold.
It took several pictures to try and show the different duochrome colours.
Another plus about these glass flecked Orly polishes is that they last for ages with no tip wear or chipping. The only bad point is they are similar to a glitter to remove. It’s not too bad really, especially seeing how nice it looks.
After snapping many pictures at different angles I just took a video. I know it’s not very good quality, but at least you can see the colour change.
Sick For Cute Review and the Un-tried Mission!
I love Sick For Cute! <3 They always have such…cute things! I normally talk myself out of buying stuff as it comes from the US and has a not-to-steep postage charge, but I do tend to spend £20+ if I do an order. This time however I had to do an order!
I follow Sick For Cute on Facebook and they have giveaways and post about new/restock items. When they posted about a new Harry Potter golden snitch necklace/locket, I had to own one! :D I also bought a sparkly bat hairclip which was the same colour as my purple highlights in my hair.
Another cool thing about Sick For Cute is they always include cute postcards/magnets in their packages, I have they stuck all over my desk, a testament to my repeat ordering! :p
The necklace is great, it’s the perfect length for me, quite short, collarbone length and it doesn’t have one of those danglely length extending things on the back, that often drive me mad until I attack it with pliers. The chain is attacked to wings, one each side. The wings are attached to a hollow ball locket. My favourite thing is because the ball is hollow, when the wings knock against the ball they make this lovely jangly sound whenever I move. The noise sounds like what I think a golden snitch sounds like! <3 Awesome! <3 Now to find something to put in the locket, any suggestions? :)
I’ve been playing the Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince Wii game this week. I’ve had it ages and completed it, but it’s fun to just pick up and play. I now have serious RSI wrists now though from all the potion making/spell casting! It’s silly and I’m sure the postman has caught me through the window and laughed before! :) I can’t wait to see the last film, 50 days or so till part 1! :) Although I was a bit worried about them keeping the director from the half blood prince film, it was pretty poor compared to the previous films. The new trailer for the film released soon looks pretty good, and true to the book, so hopefully it should be fun!
I’m currently re-watching the last season of Doctor Who, with Matt Smith, <3 Sky Plus! :) It’s a good season, nice re-vamp, I’m looking forward to the next season! Also, Stargate Universe starts again soon! I’m on spoiler avoid duty as the US have already had their first episode. Finally something to watch on TV again!
The Mission!
Upcoming posts will consist of me on a mission. The mission is to try and get through all my un-tried nail polishes! I have about 10+ polishes I haven’t tried, but have owned for awhile. I shouldn’t get any more until I’ve tried them. Ok so I did a Barielle order, but there was an 20% offer code! The code is still valid and is from Lipglossiping, a wonderful beauty blog, I suggest everyone should follow!
Relvon Cherries in the Snow Lipstick
Before I go into lipstick…omg part one of Doctor Who finale The Pandorica Opens! I had unfortunately seen some concept art of what was in the Pandorica so I wasn’t that surprised at the end (I really have to watch out for spoiler posts!), but it was still awesome! All the little extra bits and how stuff seems to be tying together now, I can’t wait to see part two next week. The cracks seemed like a cheesy build up, trying to get the rush everyone got from “Bad Wolf“, but now I think it was perfect! Anyway…
I was very pleased to find Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Cherries in the Snow without to much hassle. I normally avoid lipsticks as ones I used as a ickle teenager made my lips really dry, wore off quickly and I have thin lips anyway, so I wrote lipstick off early. I saw this one on a blog somewhere awhile ago and loved the colour and thought I’d give lipstick another go!
I am totally happy with it! It stays on, even after drinking etc. The colour is great, one coat colour and it applies easily, there nothing really wrong with it at all! Best of all it isn’t even remotely drying, if I wasn’t such a wimp I’d wear this all the time rather than at home, sat watching tv, or making dinner!
The finales are coming! Man the turrets!
Been busy this weekend catching up on work after spending the tail end of last week being tortured by dentists. All fixed now and I have lovely white teeth and only a slightly sore jaw. I have a lovely dentist so they managed to put my filling that went ‘ping’ (cue Money Python machine that goes bing! noise) back in the next morning. So now I’m happy again and almost caught up on work I shall go and chill and paint my nails as they’ve been pink all week! *gasp* I did put a coat of No7 Crystal Lilac (a pinky/purple pearly colour) on top of my pastel pink and that made it a more pearly than a flat pastel. Dull nail post…I know :p
New Doctor Who finale two parter next week, w00t! Last nights was ok, I don’t really like James Corden, but he was quite good for the comic relief. Strange episode when I think about it, not a lot of sci-fi…a lot of Matt Smith playing football and head-butting James Corden. Hmm…I dunno, hopefully finale should be good, they have built it up enough!
Stargate Universe finale on Tuesday! I Sky plus it normally and save up 2+ episodes at a time as the tension kills me! I couldn’t cope waiting a week for every cliff hanger! I know people are going to die, but who! It’s an awesome show, I’ll be sad when it’s over. Also, last episode had a World of Warcraft joke <3 Eli. What am I going to watch when these both finish? :o
NOTD Sci-fi nails
Yesterday after getting all happy to paint my nails with my new Models Own in Pastel Pink and discovering there was no brush, I was a bit bummed! I was all set out, put a dvd in and decided what to put on, and then stuck with having to choose what to do instead! I looked around for something to influence my decision, first thing I saw was my dvd boxset so I thought…that’ll do!
I was watching Star Trek:TNG which has rather sci-fi looking silver plastic cases with a strip of purple down the side, a different shade of purple for each season. I also just bought a new ring from ASOS which also happened to be purple and silver so the choice was made! Barry M Berry Icecream with Relvon Frostiest Pink tips. I haven’t yet found a nice silver polish that doesn’t show up brush strokes, which isn’t very handy for doing tips. Still, I think it was quite awesome in the end :) I wish I had more tools for more elaborate nail art, I may have to invest, some pretty silver stars would have been quite cool for this.
While I’m talking of sci-fi, Doctor Who was also on last night as I sat waiting for my nails to dry enough so I could use my hands again! I’m loving the new doctor and companion, but that was a pretty depressing episode. Tony Curran played Vincent van Gogh quite wonderfully though, but it seems the monster was quite pointless to the story. Also, it seems that Richard Curtis (who wrote this episode) didn’t seem to know The Doctor, which after a quick research I see he was asked to rewrite his script at least once, romcom is not the best basis for a Doctor Who writer really. As an incidental episode it was good, there have been far worse! It was very well rescued by Tony Curran being awesome as the tortured genius. Only two more weeks till the Moffat two part finale, can’t wait! :)
